Have you ever considered improving the reception desk area for your business? In this article we will discuss several tips to help you make a more enjoyable reception/waiting area for your guests and customers.
Listed below are 5 tips for improving the reception desks area for your company:
1. Fresh Flowers as a centerpiece. Why would this make a difference? It brings a bit of life into the area, along with color and of course the smell of fresh cut flowers is always refreshing. Just what exactly happens when/if you follow these tips? Your clients will appreciate them, and hopefully be in a little better mood for having seen and smelt them. Flowers brighten any work desk area.
2. Adequate Lighting. Which is important because without adequate lighting in the space, it tends to feel tight, dank, etc . And because if it’s too dark, the mood seems to follow. You want your waiting customers to be uplifted, not sunken and hollowed by the shadows of the waiting area. If it’s at all possible, try to utilize natural lighting everywhere you can and even consider lighter or white office furniture if increasing the lighting is out of the question.
3. Mood Music. The main reason behind this is to provide a professional atmosphere for your waiting guests. It is also an excellent idea because it gives them something to listen too while their waiting. Just insure it’s mellow (elevator type or instrumental music). I know there are many a joke about elevator music, but truthfully, it’s chosen for it’s calming unoffensive nature.
4. Cheerful Personalities at the Reception Desk. Can you tell me exactly why is this a good idea? Remember, this is the first presence new customers have of your company. It is important to start off right, with a cheerful demeanor. So hire cheerful receptionists to sit behind that L shaped office desk and greet folks with a smile. Are there any other significant reasons? No body wants to deal with a grumpy bureaucrat behind a glass computer desk. Not even your customers, and if you set them up to run the gauntlet of grumpy receptionists, you’ll end up paying the consequences by having to deal with less than happy clients.
5. Comfy Waiting Chairs. And just why is this important? Have you ever had to sit for a long period of time in a waiting room, on an uncomfortable chair? You should insure that your customers have as enjoyable a time as possible while they wait. What other reasons are there? As with dealing with grumpy receptionists, the uncomfortable furniture will quickly create an unhappy customer. Comfy chairs make for happier guests.
By following the above tips, you’ll have more success with improving your reception area which in turn makes for happy customers.
